For students, teachers and parents/guardians, the following information is provided to help everyone understand the expectations and the responsibility of care and use related to using iPads in the CMS "Cybrary" Multi-Media Lab.

• Students will not be able to take the iPad home during the school year.  Each iPad stays within the confines of the CMS LMC.  It is barcoded and will be checked out to each student to ensure accountability.

• Students are expected to treat the iPad as a valuable piece of equipment.

• Students should not leave the iPad unattended or allow another student to use the iPad assigned to you.

• Students will not eat or drink while using the iPad.

• The iPad comes with preloaded apps. Students may not load any additional apps onto their iPads using their own individual iTunes accounts.

• Students are to use the iPad to access only socially and educationally appropriate materials and websites.

• Students who disobey school policies and find a way to purchase goods, apps, music or services (iTunes, eBay, Amazon, etc.) from the Internet have full responsibility for any financial obligations incurred from doing so. This type of activity will not be permissible during "cybrary" lessons.

• Since the iPads are the property of Cleveland Public Schools, officials of the school have the right to review all material stored on or accessed by any iPad. School officials may revoke a student’s iPad use privileges for misuse or violation of policies.

 

The iPad is school property. All students will follow these expectations and the student Internet and computer usage policies for technology at CMS.

• Only use a clean, soft cloth to clean the screen. Do not use cleansers of any type.
• Cords and cables must be inserted carefully into the iPad to prevent damage.
• iPad and its case must remain free of any writing, drawing, stickers, or labels that are not the property of the Cleveland Public Schools.
• Students should report immediately any problems they are having with their iPads to their teachers or the library media specialist.

 

 

Lock Screen and Home Screen Background Photos

• Only school appropriate background images may be used on the iPad lock screen and home screen.

• Passcodes are not to be used.
 

Integrity and Civility

In addition to any standard or rules established by the school, the following behaviors are specifically prohibited as they violate the standard of integrity and civility here at CMS.

• Cyberbullying

• Cheating or Plagiarizing

• Falsifying information

• Violating copyright law

• Hacking

• Gaining unauthorized access to any network or iPad

 

To be able to use the iPads, students must promise that they:

 

    • Will use school-appropriate language in all communications.

    • Will not use or attempt to use another studentʼs assigned iPad, logins, files, or personal information.
    • Will not give out personal information, such as name, address, photo, or other identifying information online.
    • Will not use the iPad to record (audio or visual) others without their permission.
    • Will not change or attempt to change the configuration or settings on the iPad.

 

Please remember:  The iPad screens can be damaged if subjected to rough treatment.  The screens are particularly sensitive to damage from excessive pressure on the screen.
