World Cultures Encyclopedia

The world is a busy place with changing politics and constantly updated events taking place. But we make it easy to see all the important information for each country at a glance, as well as flag information and an atlas overview for whatever area you are most curious about.
This collection contains electronic versions of eighty books originally sponsored by the U.S. Army and written by researchers affiliated with the Library’s Federal Research Division. Intended for a general audience, the studies provide descriptions and analyses of lesser-known countries or regions where U.S. military forces might be deployed.

Below you will find a list of the languages we offer. It contains articles and videos covering many aspects of everyday language use such as greetings, getting directions, and finding necessities.
